Maintenance/Transportation Assistant

Job Summary - Full Time - Non-exempt

Responsible for transporting residents safely in and around the Longmont area. This involves driving residents to appointments and on scheduled outings three days a week. With guidance from the Maintenance Director, it is the duty of the driver to identify and correct all problems involving the company’s transportation vehicles. This position will help to support residents’ satisfaction and provide safe travel experience for residents. In addition, this position will assist on needed maintenance projects as the transportation schedule allows.

Accountabilities

1.  General

d) Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.

2.  Resident Care

a) Monitor the safety and well-being of residents.

b) Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.

3.  Other Duties/Responsibilities

a) Provide transportation to current resident’s doctor appointments, errands, events, etc.

b) Assists residents with transfer activities during the transport in accordance with care plans and established policies and procedures.

c) Assists residents with onboarding and offboarding from vehicle including use of mechanical lifts, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of the vehicle and into suitable wheelchair when applicable.

d) Safeguards resident medical paperwork as needed during medical transport. Provides paperwork to receiving provider.

e) Accepts directions from the Director of Nursing, Social Services Director, or designated transportation schedule coordinator.

f) Delivers paperwork after transport related to state Medicaid voucher transport reimbursement where applicable.

g) Maintains all required paperwork such as documenting resident presence on the transport roster during onboarding and offboarding, mileage logs, etc.

h) Delivers resident timely for appointments and events.

i) Research and plans for traffic delays, weather delays, etc.

j) Ensures facility vehicle is properly maintained, fueled, clean and serviced suitable for resident use.

k) Completes documentation daily as assigned.

l) Keeps supervisor informed of factors that interfere with being able to perform the work as assigned (i.e. resident issues, vehicle issues).

m) Reports any untoward event immediately to supervisor.

n) Uses proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to residents.

o) Understand proper use of vehicle restraint systems.

p) Must be aware of the physical condition of vehicles and report any defects or concerns to the Maintenance Director.

q) Understand the proper use of the bus and its lift equipment.

r) Anticipate, identify, and correct any and all conflicts on the daily schedule.

s) Provide exceptional customer service.

t) Work with maintenance on projects when the transportation schedule allows including painting, changing light bulbs, cleaning carpets and other tasks.

4.  Physical Demands/Working Conditions

a) Able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, and move frequently during working hours.

b) Ability to frequently transport up to 60 pounds variable distances, the mobility and flexibility to use required equipment and to access and work in confined spaces or at heights in excess of 8-9 feet.

c) Able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

5.  Qualifications and Educational Requirements

a) High School Diploma or equivalent.

b) Demonstrated ability to use independent judgement to make quality repairs which meet the company’s expectations and goals for the community.

c) Basic computer skills, ability to using Microsoft Office and ability to operate standard office equipment.

d) Position requires driving responsibilities. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.


Minimum Pay: $19.50 Depending on Experience
